What can I Expect on My First Visit?

During your first appointment, you can expect to receive individualized attention from the whole team. You will receive digital x-rays, a thorough exam with the doctor, and a healthy mouth cleaning. At this time, we will discuss any concerns you may have, and how diet, oral hygiene habits, or other lifestyle factors can affect your oral health. We will also review your options for any areas of your mouth that we may need to address.

What Areas Do You Serve?

South Shore Dental is located in West Denver, South of Sloan’s Lake on Raleigh Street. We are easily accessible to the SloHi, Edgewater, Sloan’s Lake, West Colfax and West Denver communities. We also serve neighboring bustling areas like Highlands, Jefferson Park and LoHi.

When Should I Get a Chipped Tooth Repaired?

If you have a chipped or cracked tooth, it’s important to get care right away to ensure that no further damage to the tooth occurs. Breaks and chips in teeth can sometimes cause pain as well, but we can help. Call our office and ask for an emergency appointment to be seen right away.

Do I Need Insurance?

Dental insurance can get you discounts on many services, but it is not necessary. We offer a membership plan that covers the basics for less than the average monthly insurance plan, and gets you 20% off other services. Ask us for details.

What is Integrated Or Comprehensive Dentistry?

Your mouth isn’t treated in isolation. We want your dental care to be part of your overall medical care and will coordinate with Sleep Medicine, OBGYN, Immunologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, and PCP. We also coordinate with other dental specialist such as orthodontics for clear aligner trays or traditional braces, endodontist for root canals, oral surgery for wisdom teeth, or periodontist for implants.

What Do You Mean By “Green” Practice?

Various businesses have implemented environmentally friendly practices. We have joined a minority of businesses (the 5th practice in Denver, and less than 1% of all dental practices) recognized as a Certified Green business by the City of Denver. Denver’s Certifiably Green program sets goals for a business in energy efficiency, water conservation, resource management, alternative transportation, and business management. Learn more at Denver’s Department of Environmental Health.

What Parking is Available?

A public parking lot is available. If you download the 5280 Parking App, we can validate at our reception desk.

Is There Bike Parking?

There are bike racks along Raleigh Street between Colfax & Conejos, and a bike rack next to Even Stevens Sandwich Shop

What Are The Transit Options?

We are only minutes from downtown. The corner of Raleigh & Colfax is near RTD bus line #15, as well as 2 blocks away from the Perry Street light rail station. Dry Gulch Park is also part of the Platte River Bike Trail.

Should I delay my dental care while pregnant?

If you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant you should see the dentist even more. Children’s teeth begin to develop between the 3rd and 6th months of pregnancy and moms’ mouths are the primary baseline for establishing the biome of an infant. So the healthier we keep you and your mouth, the better for everybody.  We will help you manage any gestational gingivitis and help you establish ideal habits to pass on to your child.

Insurance, Fees, & Appointments

We are committed to providing you with the best possible care. If you have dental insurance, we are here to help you receive your maximum allowable benefits. In order to achieve this, we need your assistance, and your understanding of our payment policy.

Payment for services is due at the time services are provided unless payment arrangements have been approved in advance by our office manager. We accept cash, check, ApplePay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and Care Credit. We will be happy to help you process your insurance claim for your reimbursement.

We will gladly discuss your proposed treatment and answer any questions relating to your insurance. Please realize that:

  1. Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. We are not a party to that contract.
  2. Most insurance companies have a deductible that must be met before insurance will pay their portion. If you have not met your deductible for the year, you are responsible for any charges until the deductible is met. Even after the deductible is met, most companies still only pay a percentage up to the maximum yearly allowance and you will be responsible for the remainder.
  3. Not all services are a covered benefit in all contracts. Some insurance companies arbitrarily select certain services they will not cover.
  4. We must emphasize that as a dental care provider, our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. While the filing of insurance claims is a courtesy that we extend to our patients, all charges are your responsibility from the date services are provided.
  5. Your appointment time is set aside specifically for you. We ask that you show courtesy to the doctor and to other patients by keeping your scheduled appointment(s). If you must change or miss an appointment, we require 2 business days notice. Cancellations, last minute rescheduling, or failure to show up for an appointment will result in a broken appointment charge of $80.

If you have any questions about the above information, or any uncertainty regarding your insurance coverage, please do not hesitate to ask us, we are here to help you.
